Collection: Ilk and Ernie
The Brighton-based label Ilk and Ernie turns surplus fabric into wardrobe staples for the spirited, free-thinking person. With values rooted in community and sustainability, their fun and bright clothes are made to empower women and ignite their confidence. Best known for their workwear, jumpsuits and gingham co-ords and dresses, the female-run brand is fully committed to sustainable and ethical practices.
Ilk and Ernie's collections are designed in-house by founder Jess at the brand's studio in Brighton and ethically made by a talented team of artisans in Deli, India. Each season, Jess travels to India to look for deadstock fabric that would end up in landfills if it wasn't for brands like hers who purchase, recycle and re-use these discarded materials. This not only hugely reduces the brand's carbon footprint but also helps them save thousands of litres of water and greenhouse emissions each year.
To further inspire a more sustainable approach to fashion, Ilk and Ernie only release two collections per year with each including no more than 10-15 styles. With the help of their versatile designs, the brand aims to encourage trans-seasonal styling and inspire a more conscious consumption.
